Understanding Floaters

These are called floaters. They’re small clumps of protein fibers inside the eye that can cast shadows on your retina. A few floaters are normal and usually harmless, but if you suddenly notice a lot of them—especially with flashes of light—call us right away. Child's First Eye Exam

We recommend a first vision screening by age 6, followed by yearly checkups—sooner if any vision problems are suspected. 

Frequency of Eye Exams

For healthy adults under 60 without new prescription needs, every two years is typically fine. Patients over 60, or those with certain risk factors, should schedule exams annually. Remember—eye exams can reveal early signs of health issues like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes. 

Signs of Vision Problems

Common signs include blurry vision, headaches, eyestrain, and difficulty reading or focusing. 

Understanding Cataracts

Cataracts occur when the eye’s natural lens becomes cloudy, often due to aging. This can cause blurred or dim vision over time. 

Tips to Protect Vision

Take regular breaks from screens, spend time outdoors, and use proper lighting while reading or working.  

Dilation Explained

Dilation involves using eye drops to widen your pupils, allowing the doctor to examine more of the retina for signs of disease. 

Glasses & Eye Strength

No—this is a myth. Glasses help you see clearly, but they don’t affect whether your vision changes over time.
